The Swansea City Council CCTV Upgrade: A Showcase of Excellence

Our relationship with Swansea City Council dates back to 1997. Over the years, we have created and maintained a comprehensive CCTV system covering multiple county areas, including the Mumbles, Gorseinon, Morriston, Pontarddulais, Enterprise Park, and various car parks.

However, with the existing analogue MAXPRO system approaching its end of life, Swansea City Council initiated a tendering process to identify a vendor capable of upgrading to a new IP system. In November 2022, CDS Security Systems successfully secured the upgrade project.
Our tasks during the upgrade process ranged from building works to installing new infrastructure, including Ethernet networks, fibre optic cables, electrical distribution, lighting, suspended ceilings, flooring, and UPS power supply.

For the heart of the system, CDS supplied a video management system (VMS) by Genetec, a renowned VMS manufacturer, to control cameras and recording.

The advanced VMS system comes equipped with powerful analytics, automatic failover, and video playback capabilities.

To facilitate collaboration with the South Wales Police and various departments within Swansea Council, CDS deployed Genetec Clearance, a cloud-based video management system.

This system allows for easy and secure sharing of videos with authorised personnel, ensuring that law enforcement officials have real-time access to critical footage.
